I have been contacted by individuals claiming to be from Heavy Iron Studios Human Resources department, going by the names “Jeffery Markworth”, and “Alexander Denton”. “Jeffery’s email came from “hr,[email protected]” about an opening for a remote 2d/illustrator position. From there “Jeffery” wanted me to download Telegram to discuss with “Alexander” about the transfer of money for laptops and software for remote 3d work. Whenever I broached the topic of contracts it was then ignored. “Alexander” then started to ask what kind of money transfer apps I have, then asking me to deposit a check they emailed to me. Then once the money was deposited, they wanted me to send the money to them via cash app. I then ceased communication, contacted my bank to tell them I have unwittingly been pulled into a scam and to note the check is a scam check. The bank opened a case file to keep track for when, hopefully, the fraud check bounces in a few days. I have given them no personal information, and they don’t operate like any studio I have dealt with. Upon recent research these scammers have done this before to others. I also have screenshots, and video of the interaction vis telegram.
