They are very convincing. Your first call will be to inform you that you are one of 1500 Americans chosen to receive this grant, amount will be between ten-thirteen thousand. You are asked to confirm name, address, phone number and DOB. Then given a number to call Dept who actually verifies and transfers grant $'s. Second call you make hoping to verify but not yet getting your hopes up. This person, probably a man, will tell you his full name, his position, the organization's name/co-name, the complete address,direct phone numbers with extensions, and even go as far as to give you his state employee Identification badge number. Then he will ask which of three methods you would like this money transferred, 1: debit card, 2: credit card,( either with/without direct deposit),3: prepaid card. Here's where they got my attention, in order to verify my identity I would have to go to local vendor of prepaid cards and purchase a particular card that has our nation's name and govt seal, green in color, and most commonly used by people who receive govt disability benefits. I am also told that I will have to show store clerk my DL or state I'd when purchasing this card and upon purchase and with receipt in hand I am to confirm to them that I have card by giving them receipt number and my grant, that by the way went from $14,589.00 to $18,188.00 with a simple mention that experienced losses due to hurricane Harvey, would be electronically transferred to my prepaid Visa card. At this time I was thinking what the hell? Buying that card won't cost more than $20. If it's not a scam it's well worth it, and if so it's not to much to lose and a lesson well learnt. He then informs me that because it will take me less than 30 minutes to complete this that I must not hang up so we can complete these transactions together and I will be sure to get my funds. Finally after about 45 minutes he informs me that purchasing the needed card, needed for verification of my identity and address will cost $199.99!!! I immediately asked him to ple[censored]d while I used the ladies room, he was determined to stay on line with me, I got my boyfriend's phone and dialed BBC and thank God I did. They will ask for verification of ss#,DOB, name, address, and phone number. They will ask for your card # and exp date while telling you how important it is never to also give ccv or pin #'s, or actual account numbers. They will be extremely humble all the way until the end when they are trying to keep you on the line until you purchase this card and if for any reason you get disconnected or hang up they are persistent in calling back until you answer or block there numbers. I blocked all numbers they called from, they are listed for others to do the same
