I applied for a position with Headspace on Indeed.com. I was contacted via email by a Lindsay Cowan that they were interested and set up an interview via their messaging service "Wire". I went though an interview via text and was told that I was accepted for the position. I was sent a job offer and the company code of conduct. I then gave notice to my current job as I was to quickly start the onboarding process. I was put in contact with my team leader named, Christopher Miller. During the "onboarding process" I was asked to purchase a new cellphone and ipad as well as a service plan through verizon to be my dedicated business phone line. I ordered the devices upfront with the promise of reimbursement via a check to cover all start up costs. Once I received the device I was told I should then mail them to one of their technicians to install the appropriate software for the job. I was again asked to pay the cost upfront to overnight the delivery. At this point I grew increasingly uncomfortable with the validity of the job and asked to speak to someone in person before I agreed to mail out the devices I was given a phone number (201) 987-5091. When I called it was clear the person on the other line was misrepresenting himself as Christopher Miller. At that time I stopped communication and have since contacted Verizon to return the devices and cancel service. I have already given notice of my leaving to my former employer so I am now without any job.
