I applied for a job on the Indeed job site. The job was fully remote (Payroll Manager, Wilmington, MA). I received an email from a person by the name of Heather Cappiello from Mykelly which is a legitimate employment agency. She was nice on the phone asked me questions about my background and decided I was a good match for the role. She will submit my resume to the company (Charles River Laboratories which is a legit company in Massachusetts) but she needs some information to enter me into the agency database. I was asked for my DOB (only month & day) and last 4 digits of my social...I'm extremely cautious when it comes to providing my personal information but that day I totally let me guard down and provided the information. A few days later, I sent an email to follow up as to my status in the interviewing process. Well, no surprise I have not heard back at all. Upon further review of the first email from her there was no contact phone number for me to reach this person. I was scammed for sure. I've blocked my credit reports with all 3 bureaus. I've contacted my banks and will file a police report today. The job posting is still listed on Indeed.com so I fear that others are being scammed. How does someone like this get stopped and caught?
