So I found this lender from a Facebook post for real estate investors. I reached out to them for a refinance quote. They sent me a quote via email and asked me for all my tax and property documents which I sent them. Then they asked me to zelle them $1400 for underwriting and appraisal. In real estate lending, we need pay any money upfront and all transactions happen over credit card. This lender doesn't even have an nmls id and refused to divulge more details about their authenticity when I refused to pay them via zelle
