Job Description:

Duties:

Under supervision, the Back Office Assistant performs a variety of back office and clerical duties in support of the patient care activities, ensuring even patient flow and continuous communication with RN’s, employees, and leaders.

The Back Office Assistant greets and assists patients, answers phones, schedules appointments, and escorts patients to the room.

This role collects and records patient vital signs (BP, TPR, height and weight), and promptly reports unusual observations or changes in patient condition.

Assists physician with examination and procedures within the scope of their job. Provides patients with information as directed.

Cleans exam room and instruments and maintains and organizes supplies. Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills:

Basic keyboarding skills at 35 WPM

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel

Basic knowledge of medical terminology

Education:

Required:

High school graduate or equivalent

Graduate of Medical Assistant program or equivalent work experience

Minimum one (1) year previous medical back-office experience, preferably within an acute healthcare system environment

Preferred:

Associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare-related field

Certifications Required:

BLS certification
