Shame on them I fell for it

- Las Vegas, NV, USA

The scam is a dog for sale on craigslist. They told us that the dog was $400. Then they said they needed $1000 for dog insurance, then they said they needed $1500 for a specific crate, and finally the scammers wanted another $850 for shots. That’s when we asked to speak with a supervisor and they refused. The seller of the dog goes by Eva Green and every time we ask her to call us she comes up with some excuse of why she can’t talk. I really hope nobody gets scammed like we did.

I was going to buy a dachshund dog, I was checking on Craigslist and emailing sellers and an email by Sky Ward ([email protected]) was sent to me explaining that they have a dog for me sending all the info. We emailed each other back and forth and I paid the first fee which is $400 for the adoption fee. She said that the dog will be transported by a company that transport dogs and other stuff which is reliable. I did some research about it and I saw reviews that said the company was good. The company finally emailed me about the dog being with them and he will finally flew but then, he can fly because he needs a crate which would cost me $1000 for renting one. I obviously paid for t because I want the dog to be comfortable. the give me a lot of options to pay the fee but when they saw that I paid Zelle and it would take 3 days for them to get the money, they told me to cancel it and find another way. I tried PayPal, cash app and they finally agreed for me to pay Venmo because I don't have any other way. They made me sign contracts (for my security they said) and so I still went for it. They asked me again for another payment for the shot of the dog because they said it wasn't comfortable and so I paid them $650. When they asked me once more for another shot ($750) I started to check again about their website. Some links doesn't work which is fishy enough and I already have a hint of feeling that it is a scam when I paid the first transaction which is $400. When I looked up if the company is a scam, I finally saw proof on the petscams.com saying that the HAPPYTAILSTRANSPORTAION.COM would claim that they would claim to deliver your pet but they were just their to help and steal your money "by charging for non existent delivery, veterinary bills, medical insurance for your as well as multiple other fees" (petscams.com). I am filing this report because they threaten to charge me for "PUPPY ABANDONMENT" and I was "GOING TO LOSE EVERYTHING YOU WORKED FOR INCLUDING YOUR HOUSE, CARRIER, JOB AND ALL OF YOUR PROPERTIES. IT SHOWS HERE THAT YOU SIGNED A DOG SALE CONTRACT MAKING YOU THE LEGAL OWNER OF THE PUPPY. YOU ARE BEING DESPERATE WHICH WE UNDERSTAND AND YOU ARE MAKING WRONG CHOICES WHICH IS GOING TO SEND YOU TO JAIL" ([email protected])because I signed a contract with them. I just wanted to adopt a loving dog and I hope this threat won't ruined my life for wanting to have a pet, which is why I am reporting the website happytailstransportation.com. I gave them my whole name and home address which is why I am also scared that they would just barge in and attack my family.

Hi!
I wanted to ask a little more about your experience! I too was emailed by [email protected] and was looking to find a dachshund dog. I’m very hesitant to send the money because I keep thinking it’s too good to be true. $400 and she claims that her and her partner moved to Oregon and couldn’t take care of the puppies anymore. However when I asked for her zelle she gave me the name Michael Meerhoff and it sounded a little suspicious..

- Orlando, FL, USA

On craigslist we purchased puppies from an individual who sent the puppies through this transportation service. 2 puppies were supposed to be transported and the company sent emails about different puppies requiring special crates and shots due to the pets being in distress. Then the scammers kept asking for more money despite the pets already receiving medication for transport. We received emails of the amount being refundable and are still receiving texts to send money through zelle, paypal, or venmo. Trying to get out of the scam now.
