I was on the app Roomster looking to rent a place when I was contacted by this person and given an email. We emailed back and forth and I was led to believe I would be renting a nice house complete with pictures and even went by to see the outside. They told me they were trying to sell it but couldn’t so they decided to just rent it out. I paid the deposit and was expecting keys and paperwork to be sent to me. They gave me a rental agreement to sign and I was told I would be sending payment to the secretary via Walmart gram. In total I paid 1200 dollars. I didn’t realize there was a scam until I contacted the realtor about getting more information about the owner and figured out it was not owned by this person but a company and the realtor said that it will not be rented out and that it may have been a scam. I have a phone number, email address, emails, receipts for payment, the rental agreement I was sent, the so called secretary I sent the money to along with their address. I have also filed reports with MoneyGram and Walmart2walmart.
