Pretty much the same issue as described above, but I am located in Jacksonville, Fl. I went so far as to have them send me the check and when I called the bank to see if it was good, they confirmed it was not.

I let Charles Dasilva (the point of contact) of GSX know I had contacted the bank the Cashier's Check was drawn on and he hung up on me.

Smelled like a scam the whole way, but I let it play out and confirmed it. I hope by reporting this, other people will avoid the chance of being taken for any amount of money.

I posted my resume on a number of career search websites, and I was contacted by this “so-called” director of HR for this tech company I never heard of. In the introductory email, he went over a vague list of duties and offered a high pay ($2,900 biweekly). Usually employers wait to negotiate this point. I received a phone call interview (red flag - most interviews are over Zoom these days), and the only questions I were asked were generic personality questions and whether or not I understood Microsoft office. I was told I’d be receiving a call for a follow up interview four days later if I was being considered. I then receive an email for “employment confirmation” and a text message saying to review and confirm it’s details. He had asked for my full name, address to “send a company laptop and check for office materials” to, and my cell phone number. I had suspicions about this company because there was no public record of it, no LinkedIn profile, and the website was poorly made for a “tech services company”. The “employer” asked that I purchase materials for the new branch office I’d be helping him open and that he would be sending me a check to perform that duty. My intuition kicked in, and I did some research. I discovered that he used common tactics for employment fraud: offering high pay with minimum qualifications and sending a check to perform company duties. Be wary of emails sent by these kind of predators.
