I received a phone call this afternoon from a person named Mary Hernandez from 337-258-3062 who identified herself as working from Gulf Natural Gas Pipe Line. I have gas serviced to my home by Center Point Energy who she said purchases this gas from Gulf. I was being notified that my natural gas was going to cut off Thursday and turned back on Fri to blow out the lines. She pretended to call Center Point to check with them as to who was to be responsible to relight my hot water heater, stove and A/C & Heating Unit. Then she told me they were going to pay me $150. for the inconvenience and come to bring me the check at which time they would need my Social Security No. So I told her I could give her this information now and I did give her my Social Security No. Now I know this was wrong but I felt this was a valid call and thing that pipe line companies do. I have called Visa and have notified them, I emailed my bank until I can speak with them tomorrow and notified them by this email. Tomorrow I will call Internal Revenue Services to report this apparent fraud since this person now has my Social Security No. Later that afternoon I received an email in my spam folder. It stated "Enjoyed speaking with you this afternoon. My contact information is as follows: Mary Anne Lynch, 337-258-3062, [email protected]. Gulf South will pay you $150.00 for the inconvenience of having no gas on Thursday, November 16th. The gas will be cut off around 8:00 am and will not be put back on until the evening – do not have a time. Glenn Hernandez will be at your house Thursday around 8:30 am to give you your check… If this changes I will contact you. Mary Anne"
