I met a man online who said that he was stationed over seas in the US Army. The chats were nice and what I needed seeing that I was in a bad place in my marriage and me and my husband are thinking about divorce. I was cautious at first and then I started to feel more relaxed in our conversation. He said that he wanted to send me something. I gave him my old address where I still receive mail at. I then received an email say that a package was en-route to me from the location of where the gentleman said he was stationed. A few days later I received an email saying that the package was held up and that I needed to pay $3,550.00 to get it released. When I reached out to the guy, he became distraught about it and said that he needed me to pay for it. I said NO!! I told him that he should have the $$ to pay it himself! He claimed that he did not have access to his account! I told him that was odd and that I have family in the military and they have access to theirs! I told him that I did not have the $$ to pay and that I had reached out to a family member that worked for Homeland Security to see if they could look into it! He became upset saying I should not involve my family! I said you wanted me to borrow or take out a loan, so why couldn't I talk to someone who could actually help??? I am thankful that I did not believe him and that I paid attention to my instincts and asked questions.
