Grant Department Reports & Reviews (9)

Hello. I have a concern about a phone call that were very disturbing. My brother received a phone from a lady who said she was from the Federal Grant Department. She told him that he was qualified for $9,250 because he was disabled and low income. He did not give her any type of information. She also told him in order to get the money he would have to pay $250 to register at CVS, Dollar General to put money on a card to send to her before he can receive the money. She stated that it was a random government loan that he does not have to pay back.My brother stated that he would have to talk to his lawyer first to see if it was legit. He ended up calling me telling me about the situation. I spoke with the lady. The first time I called it went to voicemail. It said another name. We called her back an hour later to try to hear the name of the company, but the same lady answered. She stated that it was not a business. But it was a Federal Grant Department. So I want to know if this is a scam. She pulled up all his information and automatically said he was qualified without asking him questions and assisted that he send the money to her. She called from this number 1-315-280-8180. We called this number back and he answered as if she were at home. This number called, 1-315-690-4793. We called that number back and it didn't work. So to me those were red flags. So I decided to contact you to investigate.

Was contacted by phone by a person claiming to be informing me that I had been selected by the federal government to receive an $11,000 federal grant to help stimulate the economy. It was only being awarded to 1700 individuals and I was selected. She gave me a some kind of code and told me to call 202-922-5886. I was also told that I had the choice to receive it via direct deposit or western union or money gram. Called the other number and was told I needed to go to Walmart, Target, or a couple others where I could purchase some sort of registration for the government for $250.00 which I would have to do before I could get the grant. Then it would be refunded to me with the grant.

She told me to go there and call her and she would have further instructions so as I didn't get the wrong card. She said several times not to try and do it by myself, this was a money matter. She claimed her name was Monica Lori.

I texted her back later after reading several other spams that were very similar and told her I knew she was a scam and that I would be reporting her to the ScamPulse.com and local authorities.

They called me numerous times telling me that I qualified for a government grant in the amount $9,700. Told me to go to the nearest western union and there would be no money up front but would need access to 250 dollars to get my grant. They gave me a tracking number and a I'd number . He also gave me the phone number and told me to call right back. I called back a lady answered and said her name was Sally at ext.112 and wanted me to call back Thursday at 11.

They told me that the government chose me to give me a $9, 000 Grant I have not yet call the phone number that I provided to you because it sounds like a scam

The scammer had all my address & phone number info. He (India accent) kept asking for my birthdate. I told him if I'm being awarded a grant from the government, you should already have my info. He was very adamant about getting my info until I told him I'm a grant writer... he then hung up.

The federal government is giving our grants to certain people and I had been chosen.

I received a call yesterday by a person with poor English telling me I was selected to receive $9'000 in grant money due to good credit and not having been through bankruptcy. I didn't care for the conversation because I didn't trust her. I broke off the conversation. I received another call this morning. As I answered, the line rang to a woman that may have been the same person and thus time I was told it was a grant for $7,000. After asking easy questions, she pushed the call to another woman with slightly better English. Delivery of the grant money is somehow tied to CVS, Walgreen's and some other pharmacy. I was directed to call the number above and give them a confirmation number to get the claim moving. I decided not to do that. I did not file for any grants and I know that there is a process involving a lot of paperwork to initiate a request for one. This smells like a grant. Could I use the money? Absolutely. But, I fear this is a scam and I do not want to get burned. Also, they thought I lived in zip code 98058. I live in 98055. Could be an old lust they purchased.

I got a call from 801-800-8201 caller ID said Aimee Marshall. The caller from the Grant Department told me I would receive a government grant and wanted to know how much debt I had and how I would use the grant money. I told her what I would do with the money. She said someone would call me in 15 to 30 minutes to discuss how I would receive the grant money. While I was waiting for the return call I contacted the ScamPulse.com and found out this was all a scam. I will not answer the call when they call back.
