I got a call that my "oldest grandson" was in jail and needed bail money.  I informed the caller that I did not have any grandsons and then they hung up.

- Combined Locks, WI, USA

Received a call saying that our Grandson was in an accident in MN and needed money to get back to FL where he lived. He said he was in MN for a funeral and had to get back right away. He was to be in jail and wanted to know if we could help him out as he didn't have enough money to get back to FL. I thought it sounded like my grandson, but my wife did not. My wife got on the phone and he asked for money and she told him no, that we did not have the funds. He was taken aback and just hung up.

Received call asking for grandma (my wife). Person claimed to be my grandson who went to visit a friend in Cleveland, OH. Said that he was in a car accident and was arrested. I do not have a grandson by the name that he said. Told him to call his mother and he said he cant because he was too ashamed. He wanted money from me to get out of jail.

"My Grandchild" called me from the Dominican Republic. He was in the DR for a wedding, and was riding with a female that was speeding and was pulled over. The female had pot, and everyone was arrested. Apparently "my Grandson" was arrested to and was calling from police station. The sergeant got on the phone and advised the money was to be wired via Western Union, before going before the judge. When I advised that I would have to discuss this with someone, the sergeant advised me to not speak with anyone that it was illegal.

My elderly mother was contacted on her home phone, caller ids number is 000-000-0000-states they were her grandson and she spoke to them for a few minutes, didnt quiet recognize the voice, asked if it was her grandson, the male voice said no but he was lucky to have a grandmother and hung up. My mother is certain she said "yes" and "ok" during this phone conversation.

I received a call last week from a gentleman claiming to be my grandson. He called me Grandma and he does not call me when he speaks to me. He calls me another name. I also knew was in Spain at the time. He stated he was in a accident. He was difficult to understand because of the injuries but he was at the police station. He gave me a case number stating I would be getting a within a half hour. The next call was from a female (she did not have foreign accent). Can you give me Evan's full name? I said "no". I asked if his father knew and they said no .... no... no... don't say anything to the father. I understand this is a scam but I did want to warn others this is going on.

I received a call from someone identifying himself as "William" saying he is an attorney in New Jersey supposedly representing my grandson, who was supposedly in New Jersey, attending "an event." The "attorney" said my grandson was in a car accident and needed $1800 wire transferred right away. I asked if I could speak with my grandson and was told no, he's in the hospital, and in fact broke his nose so his voice wouldn't sound the same anyway. I was given an address in New Jersey for which to send my wire transfer. Of course, I hung up and didn't send any money. This is the second such scam call I've received in my lifetime. I did not fall for either. Instead, I called the BBB.

A person called my grandparents' impersonating me. They claimed I had crashed my car and needed money to fix things.

The caller identified himself as my grandson and said he was in Florida and had been a passenger in a traffic stop where marijuana was found. He said he was being held over for a hearing and needed $5000 for an appearance bond. I was to purchase iTunes gift cards and telephone the numbers to the scammer.

a young individual called pretending to be the grandson of an elderly couple. he stated he was arrested and desperately needed help and needed to be bailed out. the scammer told the couple to go to *** and purchase $2000 in iTunes cards and call back with the card numbers. The scammers later called back stating the cards did not work and the grandfather went back and purchased another $2000 in iTunes cards and gave the numbers to the scammer. by the time elderly couple contacted family members about the situation and were informed they were being scammed, the cards had already been redeemed. Endless calls to the credit companies and *** administrators resulted in no action. Police report filed. Employees at *** claimed ignorance to knowing of these kind of scams and did not feel any remorse at not questioning why the elderly man came in twice in one afternoon purchasing $4000 in iTunes cards.

Grandparent was called and person claiming to be grandson was in trouble and needed help to post bail. They were instructed not tell anyone else about the situation. Another person claiming to be a police officer instructed her to buy I-Tunes cards to post bail so that there would not be a police record on the grandson.

Phone call calling me Grama. Sounded like my grandson. Said he was in Mexico and did something he was ashamed of. I knew then that it was not my grandson as he really is a good person. I was sure the person was next going to ask for money so I asked him for his birth date and the phone line immediately went dead.

My caller ID shows the number calling me was 556-804-9162

I called the State Police and they advised me to notify the ScamPulse.com.
