On September 28, 2018 I received in the mail a letter stating that I had won a contest with a cash prize of $500,000. A very real looking check for $4,600 was included with the letter. I knew I hadn't entered any sweepstakes lottery, so I suspected a scam. The letter also stated that the check was to "assist in paying for the processing fees which is a requirement in order to obtain authorization for the release of your balance in the amount of $495,000." I did some research online and discovered that this was, in fact, a scam.

I received a letter from GraceKennedy Money Services informing me that I had won $500,000 from the USA Departmental Stores Sweepstakes Lottery, held July 24 2018. I thought this was magical, since I had not entered this lottery.

A check for $4,600 to help me pay attendant fees was enclosed. I thought this was very considerate.
