We were contacted by Gordon Young (CEO) of Gordon Sales and Supplies out of the Solomon Islands on July 11, 2018 under the email address [email protected]. He wanted to order a few hundred items, have them shipped by courier, and pay by credit card. Then he requested that we contact his freight company and receive a quote. He gave us their info - Donald Juan, Oasis Express Cargo, [email protected] - and said they would pick up the order and handle customs, tax, insurance, etc. We contacted the company and were alarmed when they quoted $4,980.85 to ship two 20 lb 12"x12"x10" boxes. For comparison, shipping by USPS with customs included was closer to $400. When we informed Gordon Young, he agreed to pay the amount, but wanted us to pay it up front and would reimburse us by credit card. This seemed odd, so we informed him that we would need to receive a wire transfer and would not be able to accept a credit card. He refused, so we informed him that we would not be able to complete his order and he did not write again. Later we also noticed that the official Oasis Express Cargo email is not the same as the one he provided. There are other accounts of both parties being scammers listed online as well.
