WE HAVE RECEIVED MULTIPLE CALLS FROM MARKELSBURG, PA WITH THE ABOVE REFERENCED PHONE NUMBERS. THE RECORDING SAYS "SPEAK TO AN AGENT NOW TO PREVENT YOU LOSING YOUR GOOGLE LISTING"

Call to my business phone, answered and heard a recording that it was Google Business and to not hang up as they had tried several times to reach me to verify my Google Business listing, to hang on and they would connect me with a rep. I did as I had valued and worked hard on my Google Business listing and wasn't sure about anything needing to be verified other than perhaps a single piece of information I put on the listing. The girl then answered and asked if I knew my Google Business Listing (she knew my company name and details easily found from the listing itself) was not being reported to Google for Google searches. I said "No", concerned I proceeded to talk with her. She said she just needed to verify some information, I gave my address which I hadn't listed (so she got that out of me) and the whole thing seemed very real and legitimate at that point, no indication of a cost, just a verification call to keep my business listed. She said she would then transfer me to her supervisor who would finalize the verification and make sure I was being found in the search categories I'd given her, etc. It began to sound "good". The supervisor didn't hesitate in advertising what it would do. They gave me listings (which anyone could find) of the other local businesses found under my search criteria. (I was surprised at the number of local businesses searched by "brand strategy", but anyways), she then mentioned all it would do and that the cost was very straightforward, it would be $395 one time fee. I was like "Oh no, I can't pay that kind of fee. I didn't realize there was a charge." She asked if it was the total price amount, she reduced the price to $299, and I responded that I could afford some inexpensive monthly subscription but not a huge one time fee such as that. She said that then unfortunately my Google Business listing would not be in the Google search queries online. I responded by questioning her in that I had found that I had worked hard on my listing and had found that it had seemed to bring me some local business (which it did), so I was questioning her, and she promptly hung up on me. I realized she was either a really BAD Google Business representative or most likely I'd been scammed. I think it's important to note the Scam Tracker Research Report found on this site has some interesting criteria about people who get scammed. I seem to go down the rabbit hole and end up giving something (like my address, for instance) that I shouldn't have, even though my gut told me Google Business was free. I just keep trying to be more aware and conscientious and careful. She possibly could have got my credit card for a monthly subscription without my checking and taken me for all I had. SCARY.

Keep getting calls that there is a problem on my listing and they want to have me turn on my computer so they can help me . When I tell them I don’t want to they keep pressing me to turn it on. I tell them over and over not to call but they keep calling

The scammer contacted me about my Google Business page possibly not displaying correctly. They asked if I am able to edit the page and I said “yes.” Then the call ended.

Call many times a day, asking us to update our google business listing (which is up to date) when asked to take us off their call list will curse and call names

A very rude woman on the phone called, pretended to work for Google and said she is verifying my personal business for Google and started asking me about my personal information. That's when I realized it was fraud because Google doesn't require that much personal info to post a business. She ended up hanging up on me as soon as I said I don't feel comfortable sharing personal information over the phone. The phone call only lasted about 1 minute so I am not sure what would have happened if I didn't catch on.
