They job was ready to hire me immediately and asked for my name, images of my ID, social security card, and a selfie. They did not leave a phone number, just the name of the Hiring Manager - Kathy McLean and the email address. I looked up the supposed company website and you automatically cannot get through their provided phone/fax number.

I applied for a Remote Data Entry Job Position with Slang Worldwide through emails from Indeed.com. The next day, I received an email from a different company (Golden Apex Printing) saying they saw my resume on Indeed and wanted me to apply for a data entry/customer service position with their company. So, they already had my email address and name.

When I replied stating that I would like to learn more about their company and the job position, the email response included a generic bullet point list of job duties, and indicated that I should apply promptly as the position would be filled very soon. To further be considered, I would first have to supply a picture of my driver's license, my social security number, and a personal "selfie" picture. There was no phone number, only a person's name as hiring manager with another "company" email address.

The grammar in the email was "off" a bit and I was surprised at the request for such personal information without ability to speak to or interview with anyone directly.

So, I looked up the company website via google, and it seemed too generic. I called the Better Business Bureau in Vermont and they did additional research stating the street address did not include that business name on any existing addresses there (although there was a UPS mailbox facility that might be how the scammer has a valid U.S. Address). The ScamPulse.com rep also stated that the website was created only a little over a month ago (even though the website says the business has been in existence since 1985), and the domain ownership is outside the United States. I also saw a similar company name in Atlanta, Georgia, but the website did not reference any other state associations with that business.

The ScamPulse.com representative in Vermont said this business name was not registered within their State Business Directory and he did not recommend this business as a trustworthy entity based on their initial review of my inquiry.

I got an initial email from [email protected] indicating they read my resume from Indeed and wanted to offer me a remote Data Entry position. Then they wanted me to reach out to a “Kathy McLean” with the hiring manager email. After I reached out to McLean, she/he/it responded stating they wanted to offer me the position but needed a copy of my drivers license (front and back), portrait photo of me, and my SSN.
