Golden Heart Insurance Reports & Reviews (2)

I was contacted by a Mr. Bernard Wilson through text messeging. He said that my resume was randomly selected and he wanted to do a online job interview using google hangouts messaging app. He says he works for Golden Heart Insurance (I never applied to that company). So we conducted the interview and after a little over an hour he tells me I have the job if I want it. It sounds like a good deal, work from home doing clerical things, they provid the computer and fast internet, they said they will send me a check for office supplies, I would work what ever hours that I choose and the position pays $35 an hour.

I told him I would get back to him next week(because the whole thing was very fishy). I verified his email and the company is real and he was very professional and knowledgeable. Plus I was never asked for any sensitive information(social, banking info, etc...)yet. I dont know if this is realy a scam or not but it is definitely to good to be true. After doing some research into online job interview scams I found several red flags and im sure this is some type of scam. The red flags I found are the following

1. They contacted me.

2. The interview was online (google hangouts).

3. I got the job right away.

4. Work from home.

5. $35 an hour and I work what ever hours I want.

6. He was very vague about what I would be doing even after I asked 3 different times.

7. I was a engineer when I was in the Navy and I have no experience doing clerical things.

8. Its just to good to be true.

They initiated an email on 24 September about a job offer to work from home in miscellaneous clerical and accounting work. They gave me an IM interview and was instantly "hired". They said that I would get $35.75/hr and can make my own hours. They stated that I would need to buy my own office equipment and mailed me a check for a little over $2,400.00. The cashiers check had a return address to a courier service in Billings, MT. There was no company name or address on the check. They contacted me first and from what I can gather, they got my information from a resume I posted on Ebenefits.gov when I was discharged from the Navy. I searched your site for the company and couldn't find it in any of the zip codes they listed in their contact information. The only information I gave them were my name, cell number, email, and address. I still have the check, envelope, corresponding paperwork. Don't know how to send you the email correspondence between me and the interviewer. I never met these people and now sending me $2,400.00 and offering $35.75/hr sounds a little out there not to mention they're not registered with you. I would appreciate it if you can take a look and see for yourselves. Even if they're legitimate, their hiring practices are very sketchy at best.
