Gold Standard Moving and Storage Reports & Reviews (5)

Theft of service and destruction of property plus only delivered half of my shipment

We contracted with Gold Standard Moving and Storage to move us from MO to FL on 9/28/2021. ******* told us they could service our move with full pack, moving and storage. He said there would be a truck in Springfield , MO on 10/27/2021. We were told that we would received a phone call the night before the carrier would arrive to pack and load us. He said they provide white glove door to door service. I have since found out that Gold Standard is a broker and has no way of knowing what kind of service will be provided by carrier.

When we did not receive a call on 10/26/2021, I called customer service and they said driver will call the night before pickup and would call between 10/26/21 and 10/18/21. WE did not receive a call and no one showed up to move us. I called on 10/29/21 and talked with *****. ***** said I could not have number for driver. She said she would contact him and text me. I did not receive a text. Again, no one called regarding our move.

They took $6134 from us to handle our move and didi not provide anyone to move us. They wrote that we were assigned to "Road to Load Best Movers". When I called the number listed for "Road to Load Best Movers" on the internet, it gave me a message that, "no mailbox had been set up for this number".

We needed to be out of our house by10/30/2021. Our two sons came in from Boston and Texas and helped us load our stuff onto a U-Haul and move into a friend's storage area. We were in total panic mode. It is shameful that Gold Standard Moving and Storage takes your money and does not provide the "agreed to" service.

When I spoke with ***** in customer service, she said they do not guarantee when the carrier will arrive. She could not provide a back up plan.

Website called Budget Van Lines refers you to scam moving companies like Gold Standard. They all start to call you with '888' numbers like roaches coming after leftovers. Once you give them money by bank transfer say good bye to it, unless you want to keep losing more. All they got was my $600 deposit. Then I did some research and found that Gold Standard contracts out the move to disreputable moving companies that damage and steal your belongings. I was willing to take a chance being that they had my deposit. But a few days before the move they review your final list over the phone. They raised my quote $400, though my amount of stuff was about the same. I didn't agree, so after they hung up on me. Good bye deposit. I called back two days later. They finally agreed I could take a chance and let the mover decide if my actual cubic footage was within the quote. If not, I would still lose my $600 deposit. But the mover turned out to be Inch Perfect, who has 11 devastating reviews on BBB. Not only do they jack up the price in every case, but they are known to lose all your stuff, or simply never deliver it. They contacted me by text, but I could not reach them by phone. They are out of NJ. I decided to cut my losses and moved everything myself. Even if I agreed to the $400 increase, Inch Perfect LLC (wise guy name), still could jack up the price as much ad they want with impunity. Good bye then to an even larger deposit, or pay them their extortionate amount and lose all or half of your belo gings. You can't beat these guys. The last thing I said to them was, how do you sleep at night? The young woman said, just fine.... So do all those with deceit running through their veins. BTW, all the reviews on other sites ar either 1 star or 5, nothing in between. All the 5 star are variants of the same canned review, written on a third grade level.

My mother-in-law signed a contract for Gold Standard Moving to handle her cross-country move after speaking with a representative who told her they had been in business for over 34 years and operated out of her hometown area in Illinois. She authorized Gold Standard to debit her checking account for the deposit, which was approximately $3K. After we reviewed the company via the Better Business Bureau and read very negative reviews, including a large number of complaints about the company, we contacted the company immediately (within hours of signing the contract) via e-mail and text message to cancel the contract and withdraw authorization to debit her account. However, we were unable to speak with someone from Gold Standard until the next morning during their regular business hours. The representative we spoke with was very rude and pushy when we requested to formally cancel. He finally sent a confirmation of the cancellation via e-mail which also confirmed her refund was approved. Since her account had not yet been debited, we reiterated that our expectation was that the deposit would not be debited with the cancellation in order to avoid the process of debiting funds and obtaining a refund. However, the representative was very insistent that my mother-in-law sign a statement saying that she would not put a stop payment on her deposit. He told us that if she put a stop payment on the deposit (even after cancelling the contract which said deposits were fully refundable within 3 days) that we would be committing wire fraud. Two days after cancelling the contract, the deposit was debited from the checking account. Per discussions with the bank, we have to wait 5-7 business days to see if Gold Standard returns the money. If they do not at that point, the bank will assist in recovering the funds. Our feeling is that this company scams people into paying deposits that are never returned. Anyone contacting this company should be very cautious if you consider doing business with them. We feel they very much deserve their "F" rating on BBB.

They assure you their service is cheaper than any others and includes movers. They get you to give them your bank account info over the phone and then send you a contract that then states they can basically keep your deposit no matter what. They state I refused service the day of my move but I did not. When the movers showed up a whole day early with no notice they then decided the price would be triple the amount out of no where. When I questioned why it would be more they stated it just would and then said he’d call his supervisor so he could figure something out and help me out. He said I should also call the original company and see if there was a mistake on their end. Then the mover left and never came back and the moving company said I refused service. I definitely didn’t. I just asked questions and they seemed to just decide I wasn’t worth it and they’d keep my deposit instead and leave me high and dry. I’ve since found multiple others online that have been scammed by them. I’m told by other moving companies they do this a lot and change their name a lot to avoid being shut down.
