Type of a scam Tech Support
I went online to find a solution to my printer not working with my laptop. This business posed as Microsoft and proceeded to tell me they can help with my connectivity and fire wall to protect me. They posed as a tech support team that will be there to help should I have any issues. They sold me on their services as they fixed my problem. They then wanted to sell me Microsoft products and I declined. 2 months later they call stating that I am going to get a refund as I am no longer using their services. They ask if they can see my laptop and I let them as they fixed my problem previously and I didn't see this as a scam. Quickly I began to feel something was not right. They showed me that I was not using their services anymore then said they needed my card information for the refund. They then asked for my birthday which was weird and proceeded to tell me that they were the trusted company that fixed my problems earlier. They wanted to refund my money using western union! I said just mail me a check, then they were unable to get my bank to approve the 'deposit' and I got a fraud alert on my phone. Then they tried to open my bank website and since my password was automatic they opened my bank information and which point I quickly had a fit and shut my computer down. I then called the bank and they told me that this company tried to pull money out of my account several times totally a couple thousand dollars. I shut the card off, changed my passwords and tagged them with my bank. All very scary! I should also note that they have an Indian accent and are very persistent. Don't let anyone have access to your computer- don't believe online folks that tell you they are with Microsoft unless you have solid proof. Be careful out there!!
