Global sweepstakes Reports & Reviews (4)

About a year ago I started getting calls from a man who goes by Harris Stokes, he has a slight accent. He said I won the Global Sweepstakes, 2.5 million, new house, new car of my choice and $50,000 in cash. His boss is James Monroe. They said I needed to pay taxes or buy a Seal to get the prize documented. He told me to pay him with my credit card, then they would pay the credit card. He gave me his bank account number and routing number to give to the credit card company. I don't think I kept the numbers. When I couldn't use my credit card, they told me to put cash in the mail to different addresses. I might have one address in NC. He said he was calling from NY and I think he's connected with Bank of America. The last time I talked to him, about 3 days ago, he said they had to register with the ScamPulse.com. He also said he would deposit money into my account so I could pay my rent and gas. He told me not to tell people about it. He said they would be after me for money. He would call 2 and 3 times a week. Now days go by and I don't hear from him. He told me he was a Christian. He told me he was divorced and has a daughter.  He was nice and he sounded like he knew what he was talking about, and I wanted to win and quit work and get out of debt.  My bank is Chase. I used multiple credit cards to pay him, one was Discover. I also wired money. When I went to the bank to pay him, I told the bank I was going to Japan, another time I told the bank I was buying a new car. He told me to say those things. I didn't want to cause problems, I just wanted the money to go through so I could get my money. My family told me it was a scam, but I wouldn't listen. A social worker came to visit me. My son told me to call BBB.

John Davis of Global Sweepstakes called to congratulate me on winning 2.8 million dollars. He referenced Publishers Clearing house who we were familiar. I needed to send a money order for 750.00 to cover tax and fees. We did this - he got the money the next day and then called asking for another 4000.00. We argued and he said that seniors have money tucked away - and they could give him 2000.00. We are out 750 as we have learned that we have been scammed.
