I was called on my land line and told that software that had been installed on my computer in April of 2016 was sending messages that someone was accessing my computer and stealing bandwidth. I was given a number to call back. Either a lot of people are falling for this scam or there are very few running it as I was put on hold for several minutes. The person that I finally spoke with told me that his company, Global Exports, had installed "Windows Defender" and it was alerting them to problems with my computer - someone was stealing bandwidth. He told me to follow his instructions to allow him to fix the problem. He wanted control of my computer. This group has called my landline at least five times. When I finally called back I requested that the calls stop and that I would be reporting them to the BBB. I will have my computer "cleaned" locally and hope these calls stop.
