I received a message from the phone number provided above in response to an ad for a used vehicle for sale. The person contacting me reported being interested in purchasing the car I had listed for sale and requesting a specific vehicle history report from globalcarscan.com, while refusing to look at existing reports from CarFax and NMVTIS. After I paid for the report, the "very serious" "interested" buyer vanished.

The initial contact seemed pretty legit. All was going well until the person pretty much demanded a globalcarscan.com report
They continued to push the website as a legitimate site. Glad our spidey senses came into play and we checked on the web for car scams!

"buyer" from Kijiji asked for the globalcarscan.com report despite I was ready to provide him with Carfax report . He insisted for GCS . And I when I gave him my rural address in Ontario -he not even asked where it is despite his cell number is belongs to British Columbia. Man , c-man - it's too obvious .

So I had some contact me and request a GCS and decided to look into it before I purchased and found this site. My texts are identical with others on this site. Customer lost interest when I told him I wouldn’t do the GCS report. What really clues me into this is that I told him it was a front wheel drive only and he didn’t seem to care. Most people here in Utah that’s a big deal.

Almost fell for it.

Got a text from someone interested in the truck I was selling. Had very similar messages to the other scams I’ve seen with GCS. Major red flag was when I looked up the GCS he told me about nothing about cars popped up until the person sent me the link to the website. Website looked cheap and chinky and he got very defensive when I told him I would send him my Carfax as there is a scam with this website.

Message received after putting my truck ad on Kijiji
globalcarscan is the Site where u can get the Carscan. Oh forgot to ask whats your name by the way?.I'm Alvina.
Went to site and plugged in my info and when PayPal entered there was no review to submit. Report was there based on the generic vehicle, nothing specific to say mileage or repairs. PayPal receipt said payment sent to [email protected] which flagged me right away. Started claim with PayPal right away.

Via text, one of their representatives pretended that she was going to buy my car and asked me to "send the report", as if reports are typical. When I asked "what report" (thinking she meant Kelly blue book or other typical records) she sent me to their website that requires payment.

But did they give you the report? I think a scam is something when you didn't get what you want. The condition you faced is like a marketer asked you about the pimples on your face and suggested to try their product. This is not a scam? Is it? Scam is when the marketer give you a fake product. What I see is that they are selling genuine report to their customers and are backed by PayPal, where you can easily get a refund if the report is fake.
