I applied for a paid marketing internship on LinkedIn early in early June 2020 with the company Global Beat. On July 21, 2020, I received an email informing me that I had been granted an initial interview. The interview took place via Zoom, lasted about 10 minutes, and consisted of an alleged member of their management team pitching the company. Four other interviewees were present. After the interview, a questionnaire was sent to my email. I received a text message from the company asking me to complete the questionnaire immediately if I wanted to be considered for the position. The questionnaire asked for my full name name, highest level of education, expected graduation date, phone number, home address, hobbies, interests, and why I was interested in marketing. I submitted the questionnaire and received another email a couple hours later asking for a secondary interview. The secondary interview also took place over Zoom with another alleged member of their management team. The interviewer proceeded to describe the company's work culture, its history, its goals, and the duties expected of an intern. The description of the company seemed too good to be true and was extremely vague. Global Beat claimed that they would train and educate me in marketing while paying me anywhere from $300 to $500 a week. The only job qualification was that applicants be older than 18 years of age. All questions I asked were answered with "If you are chosen for the position, the management team will provide you with more details." Afterwards, I received an email and a phone call from an alleged HR representative, asking me to schedule a final interview for later that afternoon. This final interview lasted five minutes, took place via Zoom, and was with the alleged management team member that I met with in the first interview. The only question asked was how I became interested in marketing. The interviewer said that I had been granted the position and that I should come to their office the next morning to undergo a background check. I was told to bring my Social Security Card and my driver's license. A couple hours later, I received another call from the interviewer from the secondary interview to confirm the in person meeting the following day.

That night, I was concerned that this job with Global Beat might be a scam. It was odd that they knew absolutely nothing about me other than my hobbies, my home address, my phone number, and the generic information on my LinkedIn profile, yet they granted me the job. None of the interviews were truly interviews - rather, the interviewers consistently tried to pitch the company to interviewees. When I looked up their website, the website looked professional but was incredibly vague. Additionally, when I plugged the URL into a website designed to show when a website was created, their homepage was created on June 3, 2020. This was a couple days before the job listing appeared on LinkedIn. Additionally, in my second interview, the interviewer claimed that the company was founded in Jacksonville, FL, back in 2017, expanded into Atlanta, GA, shortly after, and had just opened its Tampa branch back in January of 2019. These dates did not align with the fact that their website was supposedly created in 2020. Furthermore, I could find no information whatsoever on Global Beat branches in Jacksonville or Tampa.

I did not show up to the in person meeting. I did, however, drive to their address on George Road and found the suite number they gave me (suite 130). There was no Global Beat company to be found. Instead, I found the firm Florida Engineering and Environmental Services, INC., a company that lists the same address and suite number on their own website.

I have blocked all numbers they used to call or text me, and have not received any other emails.
