I am a production assistant, and received a text message (at 6 a.m.) from the scammer with a job offer. I sent them my email, in order to receive more details about the job. They sent an EXTENSIVE, and wordy email about the job, which is not typical practice. In the email, they informed me that the “investor” would be sending me a check, prior to the shoot (again, not normal practice in the industry), and to provide certain information such as name, address, phone number etc. I decided to reply to the message with that information, since he was adamant I respond. Then I continued to read the email and they contradict themselves by initially stating they are currently in LA, then stating that they are currently at their home office, and that they would give me the address but they were conducting “auditions” for cast and crew. I did my research, and found the real person. Contacted them to confirm if I was speaking to them or not, and they confirmed that they had never sent me that email, or even had a job opening.
