I was contacted by someone stating that they were from a company that I had applied for via Indeed. She gave me a contact for a man that went by the name Jesse Villiers which she stated wanted to interview with me for the position. She said the interview would be conducted via microsoft teams app. The interview started but it seemed to be taking longer than normally. The HR manager “Jesse” then offered me a position with the company. I accepted since I hadnt been working and didn’t want any big gaps in my employment history. The scam took place around Christmas time s as well so I didn’t have much in my account at the time. Jesse said I would receive a check from the company so that I could pay for the training materials and software for the position I would be working with. After receiving the check he walked me step by step on what to do. After the funds were deposited into the account he told me to send the funds to an “accounting department” who would then place the order on my behalf to ensure i had the right training materials. After the process was done he became unresponsive and ignored my text via teams.
