Gifting circle. Group of people who encourage members to join by paying $5,000 with promise of $40,000 pay out at the end. They promise that the transaction is 100% legal because they offer an "eek out" process in which a person can leave the group with their money repaid or if the person suddenly disappears then they can be given their money back and removed from the circle.
