GGP Inc Reports & Reviews (1)

I was contacted through email for an administrative assistant position for GGP Inc. The email appeared to be legitimate because that is the exact position I have been sending applications out for. The email stated that I could set up an interview with Reginald Jensen that same day through Google Hangouts. I did not find that to be particularly disturbing because I have done online interviews before for other legitimate companies. I proceeded to set up the interview and it was conducted through instant message, it was like a normal interview. I was asked a series of questions and briefed about the company and position, even forwarded to the companies website to see further what the company was about. I was told that GGP was seeking to hire 16 new people to work from home as they expand and build new offices out near where I lived. I was told that the company will supply me with a laptop and a check to purchase accounting software, time tracking software, a office printer, and other office materials. After the interview was over, I was offered the position which I accepted and signed an official looking offer letter that next morning. The offer letter had GGP's watermark and was signed by CEO of the company therefore I thought it was an legitimate opportunity. Over the next few days I was instructed that the company check will arrive through my email and for me to deposit it into my personal bank account. Once again the check had GGP on it which made it appear to be legitimate. However, once the check was deposited and cleared I was instructed to purchase iTunes gift cards and send him the codes for documentation and so he could reach out to the vendor who I was supposed to purchase the software from. From there I proceeded to call the actual company to see if this was something that they do. The person told me that there was no one who worked there by the name of Reginald Jensen and that there is a new scam out where people use big corporations names for employment. I had to call the bank to have the check removed from my account and I ended up being out of $200. Initial email was: [email protected] his email was [email protected]
