When searching online for your state's drivers licensing agency, you will find a site at the top of the search results that appears to be your state agency's web site. The options available at the site will include such things as applying for a new drivers license and renewing a drivers license. After you've made your selection, you will be asked for personal information, including a credit card in order to cover the administrative fee. Instead of completing a licensing application, you will be taken to a page at which you can download drivers manuals or the like. Until that point, you will think that you're using a third-party service to apply for a drivers license or renew a drivers license -- a third-party service that is contracted by your state's drivers licensing agency. When submitting your application, they will even ask you whether or not you wish to make a donation to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). It will seem legitimate, up until the point where it doesn't. And, you'll be kicking yourself that you didn't see the subtle signs earlier. Immediately call your credit card company and report the fraud. Ask them to reverse the charges and lock your card. Ask them to retire your old credit card number and issue you a new card with a new number. It's a serious inconvenience, but better than having your credit card number and ID stolen.
