Genesis FS Card Services Reports & Reviews (4)

I can't believe what they've been putting me through. Long story short, they're scammers, thieves, and liars. I'm not exaggerating in the least.
Apparently, their typical customers are the “underbanked", meaning can't open a checking account or savings account. Making them VERY as to take advantage of. This wasn't me.
I got my card and immediately went online to create my account to pay the $75 fee. I linked my checking account, like you do to pay any credit card accounts and initially it was fine and I paid it. Little to my knowledge, it got “reversed" 6 days later. I wasn't aware of it, logged in to pay my next months bill in full and it too was reversed 6 days later.

Didn't know this until I get a call a few weeks later from Destiny saying that I'm 2 months late for a payment… I'm like what are you talkin about I paid in full, they say it was reversed and I asked why?

Initially they said it's “probably because of insufficient funds", I laughed and said "that's impossible there's over 50k in it.” then, they look a ‘little closer” at my account and say “oh it's because your checking account wasn't able to be located”. I'm like what do you mean? How not? So I ask to pay it over the phone, but again, the routing and account number couldn't be found?

Then, they requested I go to **Walmart** and get a **MoneyGram** account and mail them it to their PO box.* This Immediately sounded shady*.
I told him there's no way I'm doing this, that's insane and after 15 mins of him telling me how to do MoneyGram, he asks if I can go open another checking account! I said “why, I have one that works"? so long story short, I finally asked "can't I just mail you a check?" I might add, it felt like I went back in time having to mail a payment, but the guy said I could.
*Which begs the question why the hell didn't he say so right away*? Is it not the EASIEST measure vs MoneyGram? Well, in order for their scam to work properly, they prefer you use MoneyGram bc its untraceable once they received it. And when “not received", you can't prove via a bank it'd been deposited/cashed.(Keep reading)

A Week later I get a call and they are asking for the payment, saying they never received one and essentially that I was lying. (as soon as I got that call I felt a wave of relief that I didn't fall for their MoneyGram trap because I would have no way of getting that money back, it would just be gone.) They then asked me **where I mailed it** to and told me I mailed it to the wrong PO BOX number and proceeds to give me the “right one."

While all this is happening, my fiancé logs into our checking account and sees that in fact that check had been cashed BY THEM 2 days after mailing. ***WRONG PO BOX, MY [censored]!*** So immediately I knew he was lying to me about it being the wrong PO box and just trying to get another payment, which was insane but goes on to claim they didn't get it and that I need to fax them a copy of it. Fax? I'm like do you really think I have a fax machine, are you insane? He then tells me my bank has to.
I call my bank, they're confused why a company who received AND cashed my check need a copy, but said no they can't do that. But they can send me a copy of it for $7 and I can mail it to them. So, I call them back and tell them I'm mailing it as soon as it comes. And I do.

A week later, they call me asking for a payment, as though none of this happened and I ask for a manager about my letter/check copies. He says they didn't get it, but should by next week and to call back. I said, “you definitely should have received it because you got the check and cashed it 2 days after being mailed.” But, as requested I call them back a week later and *shock shock shock* and they say they didn't get it.

I start going bananas and then he says he's looking a little closer (does the sound familiar) and says he has found it, now this is on March 30th. I mailed the payment January 25th. And he says it has not been applied to my account YET, and isn't sure what is being done because it's being investigated or something, but to call back that Friday and there should be answers. So I call back Friday and initially they didn't know what I was talking about, but then say “oh yes we did receive it and applied it March 30th, so ur account balance is zero.”

Now, while all of this was going on they'd been reporting my payments as late to the credit bureau for January February and March; as a result, my **credit went down by 94 points** and due to this, one of my Chase credit cards *decreased my limit* by $2,400 bc of this---which then lowered my credit AGAIN by another **65 points**. All bc of errors w Destiny. Keep in mind I got this credit card to help improve and repair my credit.
When I asked whether or not they're going to rectify this w the credit bureau, she says NO. We argued for over an hour, until she ends up saying that I'm right and that they're going to straighten it out. I asked her how the hell this happened, how mailing them a payment gets lost and ends up destroying my credit and becomes this drawn-out saga. She says she has no idea, it never happens.
By the end of this conversation, she's telling me that they owe me another $257 because they received my payment twice, once by check and some other method BACK IN FEBRUARY; so basically, they did use the routing number that I gave them over the phone, they just lied about it and said they couldn't use it. not only that but every time I called and talked to them during the month of February they said they hadn't received anything and needed payment when in fact they applied a payment for the full balance; they're such con artists!
I can only wonder how long and exhausting it's going to be to get this straightened out and my money back, if in fact that will ever happen, it's insane!
It probably won't surprise you that nothing has been rectified on the credit bureau end and I am now actively fighting this battle the same way I was battling the Destiny for months. Please avoid this company at ALL COSTS.

In order to apply for a credit account a Social Security Number (SS#) is required. This company has the wrong last 4 of my social documented in their system, however I was approved for an account.
In order to correct this they are asking for a copy of my Social Security (SS) card.
They also will not provide a balance or close my account (over the phone) unless I provide the last 4 of my SS #.
Additionally, when you pay via phone they do not ask your permission to keep your payment information on file; it is automatic.
I paid off my balance and was charged interest the same day.

Has anything else happened to you? This happened to me today. I recieved a letter saying changes to my account. I don't have one with them so like your husband I called and they asked for my ssn. I also hung up. I felt like it was a scam and so does my fiance.
