Somehow the scammer had been able to know that I had recently financed a car from Genesis Finance via Edmond Hyundai of Oklahoma and sent an official looking letter from "Genesis Finance" approximately 3 weeks after purchase stating that after review of my loan application it was "deemed declined" due to info gleaned from a credit report. It looked very legitimate as it showed an actual credit score on the date that it had actually been collected. It gave a phone number to call if you have questions about their decision and to consider another application with them. However, my loan had been approved at the dealership and I had already set up a loan payment with Genesis Finance from another actual invoice that had been sent to me. So, I called the dealership and they said that I can disregard the letter as everything looks legit on their end, but I could contact Genesis Finance if it made me feel any better. So, I called Genesis Finance and they confirmed that I could disregard the letter as my loan was approved and my account was in good standing. I asked them about the return address on the letter and they said that while they did have a business address in El Dorado Hills, CA, they did not have a PO Box there. I think the scammer had hopes of getting a new loan application started with me to steal my financial data. Luckily, I didn't fall for it and don't want anyone else to either.
