I was online looking for a natural way to unclog my bathtub, when suddenly my laptop froze, and a voice from the laptop said to call a specific number to get help. When I called the number, the persons I spoke with were not from the United States. "Steven Wilson" told me that my computer was compromised and gave a lot of information to him because I trusted him (email and debit card). He turned me over to a 'senior technician'. He was able to manipulate my computer remotely. He 'fixed it" after $199.99. I panicked and became anxious about being hacked. I asked the senior technician if I needed to change passwords etc. He said, "No", He downloaded Avast Business and Avast Cloud onto my laptop and something called 'finder' (remote access?) I thought they were helping me. A coworker let me know that I had been scammed. She advised me to uninstall all their software and change passwords. I resisted online banking for a long time. Now I wish I had never agreed to online banking. I had to get a payday loan to buy groceries and gas until next pay day. My consolation is that one day "the wicked will be no more." (Psalm 37:10)
