Type of a scam Phishing
1/21/22 – 4:00 p.m. I called the phone number on the email (833.839.5129) to find out what this was all about. I spoke to a person named EDGAR. He researched this and apologized, saying this is for ‘Kathleen’ (I am not Kathleen) He said they will correct this error. I asked him to please send me a ‘correction’ email, which retracts the information in the 1/21/22 email. He said they would do that.
1/24/22 – I received no retraction / correction email from Geek Squad so I sent them an email that day at 6:13 pm. (see attached copy, with their original email) I reiterated that I would like a response showing that this error has been corrected. At this time, I noticed that when their original email was sent to me, it was via a blind copy. My email address isn’t even shown on the email. This was extremely odd and then I realized that it might be a fraud or phishing email.
NOTE: My bank account has NOT been charged or compromised. They have no access to it.
1/27/22 – I received no response, again, from this company. A second time, I called the phone number that I called on 1/21 (833.839.5129) This time, I received a recording that said ‘I’m sorry. Your call cannot be completed.’ So, this is a fraud or phishing email.
