i LOST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS -CAN i EVER GET IT BACK?

I was on my home computer Wednesday evening on the internet trying to access and download a VCR manual file. Suddenly my monitor screen began flashing a warning of a potential virus that unless I acted immediately upon I would lose my computer files plus there was an audio warning on my speakers. A toll free telephone number and the man who answered said he was with Windows Security. Well he said he had found several virus infected files and offered to rid the virus and clean up my computer for a total of $798 good for a three year subscription including their anti virus software. So he required an electronic scanned check for $299 from my bank which scanned would include my bank touting and account number. Later I found out this was likely a scam and even though he brought my computer back up I the very next day went to my bank and they put stop payments on anything from Garrison Corporation. However a debit from Garrison went through the next day August 12. I am now working with the bank to reverse that debit.

I am so far not out any money but I have signed a agreement prior to this report mistakingly authorizing this transaction before I discovered the scam.

I am reporting this in case Garrison tries further unacceptable debits on my account and to warn others less they get scammed too.
