I received a text message from (279) 201-0621 claiming to be from Frontier. I did not suspect fraud because I had gone on what I thought was the website for Frontier Internet Service the day before regarding their Internet service in my area, but was unable to complete the online questionnaire, so when the above referenced text message appeared on my phone and said to call (414) 240-8610, I called this number. The man I talked to at "Frontier" asked for my address so he could see if they could provide internet service to it, and then he put me on hold. He came back on and said they did not have internet service in my area as of yet and to check back from time to time. I asked him if he knew of any internet companies that might have service in my area, to which he replied I could try AT&T or Xfinity. He actually gave me the phone numbers for both companies and offered to transfer my call to one of them. Like a fool, I didn't suspect that anything was amiss so I let him transfer the call. Soon a man answered the phone and identified himself as Terrance Walker with Xfinity. He went through an entire process that seemed legitimate. He first asked for my address to see if Xfinity could provide my address with service. He also asked for my email address and the best phone number to contact me in case for some reason the call was lost. After a brief period on hold, he returned and said that Xfinity did indeed have service in my area. He then asked for my social security number and for permission to use it to check my credit before processing the order for internet service. I gave him my social security number, and shortly thereafter we continued with the order. I was on the phone with this man for just over an hour. He did not collect any credit card, debit card or banking information from me, which in retrospect seemed odd, especially since he said that Xfinity would set the account up on autopay. He informed me that Xfinity would need to come out and do an installation, so we set up an appointment for that. Not long after completing the order and ending the call, I realized that the man had not taken my credit card, debit card, nor banking information, so I called the Xfinity phone number the man from Frontier had given me. The call to Xfinity began with an automated menu and I could not talk to a real person because the automated system required an account number or phone number linked to an active Xfinity account. After searching for an Xfinity phone number besides the one the Frontier guy gave me (I doubted his veracity), I finally found and called a Comcast phone number. The person I spoke with at Comcast could not be certain that I had been scammed by Terrance Walker, posing as an Xfinity representative. She said all she could do would be to write what she described as a "House Smart Request," and that it would take up to 48-hours to get a response directly to me, as to whether or not an order for internet service had been processed. The conversation I had with her was very disturbing though. She said neither Comcast or Xfinity agents ask for social security number directly. They somehow invoke an automated recording that asks for your social security account number; however, she said that in rare cases (such as if their system for automated information gathering goes down), only then can they ask for your social security number. She also said that if the order had been processed, I should have been given an Xfinity account number verbally over the phone, with email or text message confirmation to follow. I received neither! She created the House Smart Request and gave me the phone number to call should I not receive an answer within the 48-hour timeframe. I then called every phone number I had for Frontier, and they all had the same recording. I opened the "Frontier" web site and noticed that the phone number had changed. I closed the web site, and reopened it several times, and every so often, the phone number would change. Regardless of what phone number was displayed on the web site, if called, I would hear the same recording (one of the phone numbers is 833-796-2758). Due to my heightened sense of awareness, I noticed that regardless of what number I used to call "Frontier," it sounded like after one to two rings, the call was switched to forward the call to another phone number which, when answered, would play the exact same recording: "Thank you for calling about Frontier, since you are a priority customer, we will transfer you to the next available agent." I also checked the call log on my smartphone, and I noticed that the call that was supposedly transferred from "Frontier" to Xfinity lasted for one hour, two minutes, and a few seconds. This further caused me to become suspicious.

Email it came from: [email protected]

We do not have Frontier services and never have, and the account number is nonexistent when we call. This is highly unethical and I would really appreciate any help.

This person called me and after asking numerous times already to have my number removed from the list she flat out refused as well as continue to harass me threatening my safety.

Told me he was a Frontier TV,Phone and Internet provider, and was set to schedule installation of router and other necessary items. Was to send confirmation E-mail and return phone call within an hour. Never replied and when I called back to the same “business” 951-687-5102 another gentleman with think “Indian” accent answered and wanted to verify my social security number and charge me all over again for services. Said that his business was an “affiliate” to Frontier.
