The website lists photos of available puppies and after filling out your information for the one you're interested in, they email you with more information and a couple more photos of the puppy you're interested in. They say they need the $250 deposit and have various ways you can pay. I have Cash App already, so I got the username of the woman involved in selling the french bulldogs & her Cash App is "Mellisa Bennett". I also had her phone number (listed above) at this point. I tried to send her the full $250 & the app had a pop up that alerted me that "the user you're trying to send money to is a scammer". I should've known at this point it was a scam... I texted her the pop us message and she just said that "it's happened before" and that I should be able to send the payment still. So, I sent the payment through & my bank declined it. We tried exchanging money via Cash App several times and only $30 ended up going through. I asked her if there was another way to get her the remaining $220 and she stated that I could get her an Amazon gift card and that would work. I got the gift card and she told me it didn't work, but I checked the balance of it online & it said someone took the money off of it already. At this point, I was done trying so my partner decided to try now & he ended up getting scammed out of $425 total in Visa gift cards and $200 in Itunes gift cards. After this, we told her that we were done trying to give her money electronically and would only do money exchanges in person. She said that was fine and we went all the way to a different state and she stopped responding to my texts and calls. When I was on my trip back home, she texted me finally and told me that she got hijacked, she was at an unknown location, they took her phone from her, and she was being held for ransom. She also asked me to call a family member of hers in a different state... I told her no and she said "what if they kill me after I explain all of this to you". I was wondering why she would ask me (a total stranger that she's never met) to call her family when I don't know her etc... To me she totally made up that story and was trying to get more money from me. The night I returned home and she texted me "hello". The entire process was upsetting and infuriating. I feel [censored]ic that I kept trying with her, but I really wanted the puppy (still not an excuse I understand). This is the first and hopefully last time I get scammed & I hope that others can learn my story and NEVER trust online sellers for French Bulldogs.
