In the past I've been part of legitimate focus groups (marketing research) where you get paid to come in to a building and evaluate a new product in development. I got a text from these people saying I should fill out a form for a new focus group and assumed it was tied to the company that I've worked with in the past. That website was https://fortressinsights.com I filled out the form on October 13 and then on October 19 I got a text message from Chris Allen of "Focus Data Analytics" asking me about nearby stores I could go to. I replied, and then a couple days ago, Oct. 25, I got a priority mail envelope with a check for $4,900 instructing me to cash the check, go to a nearby walmart, buy 4 blank $1,000 money orders and send them overnight to my "assigned supervisor" At that point it was very clear that this was a scam.
