Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I filled out a Survey to be a Walmart Secret Shopper. A few days later the mailman brought a priority mail package to be signed for. Inside the package was a Cashiers Check and letter instructing me to deposit the check into my account. I was to keep 300 dollars for myself as payment, spend 50 at Walmart on a product (which I could keep), Wire the rest to a bank called Genysis Credit Union. The names on the check were Jackie Buchanan, Dennis Atkins and the company was FocusGoals Research, Inc. I knew it was a scam after I looked up the information and saw that others had similar icidents. I have received two text messages from Paul Benson that read *actual text with incorrect spelling: Text 1: "Dear Survey Applicant, Your survey application was received on 6/29/16, your have been registered and assigned a Walmart survey research which will take place on Tuesday 7/12/2016, Survey compensation ($300). Your survey packet as been delivered to your address today via USPS post, if you are not around to receive the packet they will surely leave a notice for you to pick up the packet at the nearest post office to you. Confirm if you receive your packet today. Thanks, Mr. Paul Benson Research Manager FocusGoals Research, Inc." Text 2: "Dear Survey Agent, Confirm you are taking your survey at the Walmart store today, you have to confirm your Walmart receipt # and the Moneygram reference#, Do confirm both numbers so we can confirm you survey. Thanks, Paul Benson."
