I sent the email to the Mayor of Flowery Brach, who lives in my neighborhood, and he has never heard of the Flowery Branch Business Recognition group or these awards. When I emailed to question the validity of the award, they told me "The Best of Flowery Branch Award Program uses information gathered internally in conjunction with third-party data as a part of its selection process. Unfortunately I cannot go into the specifics of the data we use in our selection process. We have non-disclosure agreements with the companies that provide us the data. I'm sorry; I wish I could give you more details."
I have won a legitimate "Best of" award in the past, and it's a pretty transparent procedure, and while winners can choose to purchase an upgraded trophy or plaque, they are given a complimentary award for their efforts. This is obviously a fake award and the company just sells fake trophies.
