Hunter, from 1st Point Receivables, called my in-laws today saying that there was an outstanding debt due and he was authorized to collect $436.15 for the company US Diagnostic Labs. They were both confused about his request and authorized that I speak with him to find out more information. When I asked more details Hunter said the services were from July 5, 2018 for a complete blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel and liver and lipid panel for my mother-in-law. I asked what information that he had available and even gave me an invoice number. When I questioned him on the almost 3 years since the date of service and why they had not received anything regarding this before, he said that several statements were sent out and verified their mailing address. He said that that US diagnostics labs and finally sign over the rights to have his company collect this debt. My in-laws’ are punctual on paying bills they owe so it seemed a bit weird.

I asked if I could call him back and he said out of the “kindness of their heart” they were trying to settle this TODAY or else my in-laws would incur a 35% charge and would have the show up on their credit record as unpaid.

My in-laws and I decided it was best to get the debt collection name and phone number and try to call about the labs ourselves to verify charges before paying. Hunter said that we had 24 hours to get back with him or else we wouldn’t be able to resolve this in a nice fashion.

We do NOT intend to call back nor pay the false bill.

It’s such a shame that people are trying to scam others.

First point is a real company I thought it was fake too I told them to kiss my [censored] but then I got a collection notice in the mail and it showed up on my credit as a 628.72 instead of 4 something

They (First Point Receivables) called and said I had an outstanding bill for medical diagnostic testing and that I had to make arrangements to pay the whole amount the day they called or they would report me to the credit bureaus. They refused to send me a letter stating who it was from. They said when I paid it off they would send me a receipt showing who it was and the total amount I have paid. I was stupid enough to believe them but when I talked to my son and my lawyer, they told me to go to my bank and put a stop pay on the check. They said a legitimate business would have sent me a statement to begin with. I went to my bank and put a stop pay on the check this morning.
