It was written in the contract that I would have a 1 month's internship. The ******* guy then emailed me to let me know that I would be going through this training online via Webex with my supervisor named ****** *****. There was no video, phone, or voice communication through any of this. Whenever I would try to call, ****** would claim that she doesn't have a microphone and couldn't answer phone calls. I was just told to do data entry by entering multiple individuals' information into an Excel spreadsheet: name, phone number, address, and email. I was also asked to create a ******** account at the beginning of the "internship" but ****** had not told me the reason for it. 1 month later and almost 80 Excel spreadsheets with the names, phone numbers, emails and addresses of thousands of people, she writes
"Okay. Work with spreadsheets finished. Now you need to top up your ******** balance in order to start learning the investment process. Since this is an internship and you do not currently have a corporate bank account for the company. You need to top up your ***** *** balance from your personal funds. Today we will complete the training of the investment process and tomorrow you will receive a salary. We will also add to the salary the funds that you spend for investments."
****** asked me to "invest" $1000 into a trader account (which I refused) in order to receive my salary.
I asked if she could send me that money because as a student, I don't have the funds at my disposal she says
"Usually, for investments, we send funds to you via e-transfer. But now the e-transfer is disabled on the corporate account of the company. Therefore, we cannot send you funds to invest. The salary will come to you by direct deposit. But we can only send salaries by direct deposit. Therefore, I suggested that you contribute your funds so that we can finish the internship today. And tomorrow you will receive a salary and the money that you spend"
Furthermore, I insist that I don't have the money to invest and that I was relying on their salary, "******" waits a few days and tells me:
"As I said, there will be no salary until we have an investment deal. Interac for a corporate account is still not working. We cannot send you investment funds. We are waiting for it to work. Since you do not want to use personal funds". "You need to replenish ******** with $1000 and invest this amount in a trading wallet". "This money is not for us. They go into the trade of some trader. And we add this money to the salary and return it to you".
