My sister was sent this mail, and she fell for the scam, gave information to them including her social security number, bank checking account number along with her routing number, her FAFSA password which they used to change her password and lock her out. We called the bank and they told us this number was not in their database, and were able to freeze account. We also called this phone number and they were very disrespectful from the start, and upon asking for the company name, they were very hesitant and skeptical. The “company” name they gave us sounded like a department name, not a business name.

The scammer called repeatedly from various phone numbers calling to say that my number was chosen in their system and they were going to send me money. I repeatedly told them to stop calling me and give the money to someone else. The man on the other end told me that he would keep calling me until I accepted the money, at which point I told him that if he called me again, I would report him to the BBB. He asked me why and I informed him that I was annoyed that I was getting called repeatedly, several times a day. He then proceeded to hang up and I did not hear from them for a while, until today. They have already called me twice today, both times I proceeded to hang up immediately after they had identified themselves. All I can say is, they were warned, and didn't think I would follow through on my threat. I know this is a scam, because any other time someone from a governing body sends me any money it's always sent directly to my account.
