cI received a phone call on April 23, 2025, at 1:03pm EDT. The caller left a message stating she was Iana with Fifth Third Fraud Protection, claiming to be on a recorded line. She claimed it was a time sensitive matter regarding my account, and that I needed to call her back at (513) 358-1207, ext. 81207, and reference code "fraud 1". I called Fifth Third Bank directly using a number on the app, and they reported they had not called me, that there was no issue with my account, and they added that they would never call me, they would only text message me.

I received a text message this morning. I thought it was from Fifth Third Bank. I have an account with them. The text came from 844-339-5342. the text stated your debt card was locked. please call this number to unlock your card. 844-339-5342. I called the phone number. A recording answered. this is your Fifth Third Bank. Please enter your debit card number. I entered my card number. It said press one if the number is correct. press 2 if incorect.. I pressed one. It asked me for three digit number on the back of my debit card. I gave it. It asked for my social security number. number. I gave it out. asked for birthday day. I gave it. Wanted my mailing zip code. I stopped. They were asking for too much. I called Fifth Third Bank from the number on my debit card and reported it. They told me there was no block on my card. I gave her the phone number. Not their number. She told me it was a scam. They will issue another debit card. No money was taken out of my account. I reported it to them right away.
