I received a text message from someone claiming to be the winner of a $700+million Powerball drawing and that they wanted to give out donations to individuals. They provided the phone number of an “agent” to call. After doing some quick internet research I was able to confirm there was a powerball winner of $700+million a few years ago and a scam had been started using the backstory of the powerball winner to legitimize the scam, and get victims to hand over personal financial information. I am reporting it here.
