I received a text from Richard Koch on Wed 3/20/24 telling me he was reaching out in regards to a resume I had submitted. He wanted me to confirm receipt so that an interview could be scheduled. He stated that I would have to download zoom for the interview which I already had. Then he asked for my zoom email so that HR could add me as a contact and interview me. Once I confirmed all of that, he said that the HR manager, Mrs Jessica Rossin would reach out to me & to kindly respond promptly. I then scheduled my interview for same day with her via Zoom IM, went through the entire process with her detailing the job requirements, company information, pay & then the interview questions. She said I did great and that she would review with her colleagues & get back to me. She then got back to me & stated that I got the job & they would send me the required onboarding paperwork to my email the following morning, which she did. I looked up the company and her name on LinkedIn which did match up & the company does have a lot of online presence so I believe it is an actual company in Germany. I then filled out the onboarding paperwork, as you would for any job. I then confirmed with her the next day that I have read, filled out & signed the W4 form, form I-9, job offer letter & code of conduct that she had forwarded. She then told me the equipment requirements, I have a laptop but I did not have the programs installed that they required and asked how I would get reimbursed. She then said they would overnight a check to me to cover the expense for a laptop, scanner, printer & all the required programs (Sage/Quickbooks etc). I was out of town so I dont know if it arrived on Friday or Saturday but it was on my porch when I arrived home Saturday. Since the banks were already closed I told her I would deposit it on Monday but I had questions for her including can I video call her to make sure she is who she says she is. She responded that we will discuss everything on Monday and she wished me a good weekend. I brought up the video call again in our meeting this morning as I had to check in with her at 9am every day. She then told me I could video conference with the Regional Supervisor I would be assigned after I received my equipment. I asked who the vendor is that I would need to make the purchase from and she would just reply with I will guide you once the checks have been deposited. Then she asked me to take a picture of the receipt from the bank once I had deposited the money & that I could keep $310 of it as a sign on bonus. She also said I could use a pen or pencil to scratch off any of my account details on the receipt. I asked her why would she need that? I understand the need for copies of receipt of purchase once I bought from the vendor but why would she require my bank receipt? I then told her that as she can imagine, everything is starting to sound suspicious with her not wanting to do a video call to confirm her identity, not wanting to tell me who the vendors are that she wants me to purchase from & the bank receipt. That I really hope it’s a legitimate job offer as I need work to pay my rent and bills but trust goes both ways. Once I wrote that, she logged off.
