I may have gotten involved in a scam. My home was destroyed by hurricane Ian in Fort Myers Beach Florida. I received a phone call from a woman named Michele last week. She did not give me her last name.. She told me she was referred from FEMA for financial assistance. She had to get information from me before she could release any money. Her phone number is 800-733-2767. She had me get on my laptop. I needed to fill out an application online. She connected me to the website. Noreplay. It is for Red Cross Financial Assistance. I would need to go back online to see how it was worded. I provided my address in Florida. I gave them the last 4 digits of my Social Security number. I clicked on a number on the website. I had to take the last four digits to put it together to be one number. I did not like this whole thing. I called back and spoke with Donna. She gave me a case number 00321741. I think they answered the phone Red Cross Financial Assistance. I am not certain. When I spoke with Donna she said I am eligible for $511. She asked if I had a debit card. I did not give it pout. She asked if I use PayPal. I said no. Then she wanted to know if I could go to Walmart and pick up my funds in Cash. I said I not feel comfortable. She said my money was at the nearest Walmart. I would need to show my drivers license and the case number given to me. I had to click on Walmart from my computer. I did not click on. This made me feel uncomfortable. I did not contact FEMA pertaining to this. FEMA had told me I was not eligible for assistance becuase I was not a Florida resident. They told me yesterday to reapply. They have my email, social security number, address to my property in Florida.
