The scammers first put an automated message that asks due to the government shutdown federal loans are now out of compliance. The William Hartford act states all student loans can be wiped out. If you know your FSA id press 1 if not press 7. They then attempt to extract federal information including how much you own in loans, your full name, your age, your loan balance, your loan manager, etc.

I have been getting a lot of phone calls about federal loan forgiveness. I actually talked to a person this time instead of hanging up. They said they were Federal Loan Forgiveness and I was partially qualified because I had a job. I asked to repeat what company - "we are federal employees in the Federal Forgiveness Loans the William D Ford Act Enrollment Center."They asked about if I had a job and was paying back my loans. I partially qualified and they transferred me. I heard the other line asking for the federal ID number and she punched in two digits and then I was transferred to "John" who wanted my email - I gave it to him - then wanted my date of birth. I asked him what the website was. He asked if it was a bad time - I said kind of. He said I could just call back at (920) 784-3716. I said no, what is the website? He said just go to federal loans. I asked him what is the exact web address? The line had a funny tone on it and he was gone and I hung up. I called my police department but they said since no information was gained off of me there was nothing to do. I asked them if can I report it somewhere and I googled and this website popped up. Like I am not big enough in debt without getting scammed - those jerks.
