The Scammer (guy with foreign accent) called and identified as from 'National Treasury". Went ahead to say that I had been selected through Random Selection Country Wide for being a Loyal Citizen to receive Govt Grant of $9,200 for having no criminal back grounds and no bankruptcy records. Yeah...all this defined me and I was struck at first and lost track. I insisted to talk to supervisor and a guy named 'Anthony Johnson', the so called supervisor p/u the phone after I was put on hold for like 3 minutes. I inquired more questions to the sup and he was like, "Do you want your money?", without hesitation, I said yes, he went ahead to say that I had to send like a registration fee, and i was given a Grant Confirmation ID as GG0502, he tltold me not to hang up, yeah...so desperate to scam the money, and said that I should get a gift card called 'Steam' from Walmart or rite aide, or those stores that can cell gift cards. After buying the card worth $200.00, that was my registration fee with the back to have have my grants wired to my checking account....right...I had to give my checking account to have my money wired to me, still this did not make sense but I' going back to school in a month and I needed all the money for school fees. After buying the gift cards 'Steam', was instructed to scratch and read back the codes to them, I bought 4 (50.00) dollars gift cards for a total of 200....damn, this desperate student!! After reading all my codes, they took my verified my account # and said I would have to call Federal Bank in Newyork @ 3474506866, then have my transaction completed. I immediately smelled a rat after calling this number, the lady was so unprofessional, Goshh, for some reasons, It never clicked in my head that you can't have money transferred like that just via phone call. The lady put me on hold for almost half an hour, she later p/u the phone and said, my money had been added some $500.00 because my state would have me pay for taxes on my grant, so she went further to state that I should buy I tunes Cards worth $500.00 and have my money wired to me, At this point, I realized I was a Victim of scam, I yelled and cursed this lady and she pretended to be so cool about it, she eventually stated to me, "call me tomorrow when you are ready with the money and we can finish the transaction, I'm sorry you are frustrated but its just the policy". I lost $200.00, but you guys will pay this 10times!!! "Wathi Urihagirwo thi"
