I received a messenger text from a friend on my cell phone saying how happy she was that she had just got this Grant money of $95,000 from the EDA {Economic Development Administration} & asked if I had gotten my letter to get my money. I asked more about it on this messenger text. She told me that she got her money via Fedex at her door step & that she had seen my name on the list to get the grant also. She gave me the claim agents name Mr Floyd & his number & told me to text him with my full name to see if I could still apply for the "ongoing winnings". So I did text him. She told me to keep her informed with the prcocess. Mr Floyd then told me he would check to see if I was eligible & within a few minutes I was eligible for a $50,000 grant. Then I got a text saying that I should keep this all private & not discuss this with my friends or relatives which I found strange since apparentely it was because of my friend that I was doing all of this. After he texted me some check allocation no. & pin code & certificarte number then he told me I would have to pay for the taxes & shipping fees. After I asked how much that would be he told me $500 for the serves as the courier & clearance charges. He could not tell me how much tax I would need to pay at the time I would get me money. So I asked him if I could write a check for the $500 & where to send it & who I would write the check out to. He didn't answer those questions, just asked how soon could I get the $500 to his delivery team. Then for a few more texts he's asking if I could get the cash like NOW. I did not have the cash on hand & said me bank was closed, he gave me options to then go to a Walgreens, Target, Walmart & purchase a google play card worth $500. I told him I did not have any store around like that, the closest one is 2 hours away. So I told him that I didn't understand the cash urgency with a governmental agency. I told him thank you NO. Then he said there was no cash urgency & I could make the payment at my own convenient time. I told him I would text him next week. Meanwhile I was in contact with who I thought was my friend via messenger text. I actually told her I feel like I am being scammed. The reponse was no it is not a "scammed". & " just do as he says and you will get your money". I have not given anyone any money & will not. I called my friend today & she said she did not contact me yesterday or the day before via messenger text. She knew nothing about the money or the conversation I had with her, she said doesn't use anything but plain texting. The messenger text said is was not using Facebook & logged in using a phone number from the USA, the account was recently created. Not sure where to go to from here. I would love to catch these guys.
