My name is ATTN. Rose Kelly and I thank you for reaching out to me. I am responding to a request you submitted in applying for The Volunteer Income Assistance for Needy Families (FFEDP ). In order for me to gather more pertinent information, I’d like to discuss a little about this program: helping the quality of life for low-moderate income individual, disabled, retired and non retired who need assistance in paying bills, buying a home or renovating and saving for a purpose.

The individual contacted me using a Facebook friend's name and messaged me. The initial comment was just asking how I was doing. When I sent a reply they asked if "I had heard the news" but did not say what type of news which promoted me to ask what the news was. They then responded that there was an on-going program through the FFEDP that is offering money to those in need without the duty of paying the money back. They reported that they had received $300,000. They said they would help me through the process to make it easy and suggested I contact the agent that helped her, Armin Charles at 719-220-5814. They said to text him right away and he would contact me to help me also get money. I looked up the FFEDP and found the website for the Federal Funding Economic Development Program. The site looked like it had effort put into it but had some obvious red flags, such as there is a tab that shows 'Winners' and lists the amount of money they were awarded ranging from $100,000 to $1,000,000. I have not responded to the individual and have since deleted them as a friend, but somehow they called me through Facebook messenger and sent another message asking if I had sent the text message. I have not heard back for 3-4 days. They used a real friends name and I confirmed with her that she did not send the message and did not know anything about FFEDP.

I was checking the EDD website and typed Federal funding programs by mistake on my browser. I am currently on unemployment so I wanted to check what I qualify for once the program I'm in, ends. Before I could correct what I typed this website poped open and it looked very leggit. Very govermental. Almost like another one of those charity programs. So I thought, what do I have to lose. I do not have peripheral vision on one side so I missed a very important tail tail sign: a phone number on the top left corner. The website asked for your name, last name, address and phone number, you mother's name to which I only put the last name and an amount you were looking for, and what you would do with the money that you needed help with. I added all that info and forgot all about it after hitting submit on the bottom. However, I saved the website to my favorites. One week latter I get a txt message about 10AM. Someone is txting me to verify all this info I had added in this website and to just respond with a Yes. I did. They said that my application has been approved and that I could make my choice of sending them $3000 and receive $100,000, or send $5000 and receive $150,000, or send $9000 and receive a bigger amount and so on. Right there I thought: SCAM!!!!! My response was: if I had that kind of money I would not be living with my parents. No thanks, I'll pass. Because I had added in the so called application that I was on unemployment 5 minutes latter I get this txt from the same number. Below is the txt. I have coppied and pasted as is:

I just got an email from the department in California, and they are eager to help out if you wish to continue with the offers. Another option, can you work with the organization; they will send some Edd letters to your address and cards. Once you get the mail, all you have to do is take pictures of it

and send them to me here. Let me know if you agreed with this offer. After Completing ten mails and cards, the package of $400,000 would be delivered to your address provided in applying. I will look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you.

It was so obvious that this was a scam. I just wanted this people to stop txting me at this point so I txted back to them that I was reporting them to the police at that moment and that I knew that they were scamers. At that moment they stopped txting me. I have not heard from them anymore.

A friend whom I trust referred me to this program and phone number. I was to call 917-580-9724 (Barbara Stewart) who I was told is the agent in charge. Responses were very swift. Immediately I qualified. Information was requested: Employment Status, Mother's name, Marital Status, Gender, Date of Birth, Email, Monthly Income and Cash or Check? The question "Cash or Check" is where I became suspicious. I received another text detailing the fees to be paid for various grant amounts which are refundable after the grant is issued. At this point I disengaged and blocked the number.

My suspicion is that the scammer got to me via a Messenger message that mimicked my friends name from a Facebook Hack. I was never really dealing with my friend. I did not lose any money as I dropped out of the scam when asked to send money but will keep a sharp eye on my credit reports and accounts.

There is a website FederalFundingSupports.org which I was unable to reach via chat or the listed phone number. I shows up in a search for FFEDP. They ask for the same information on their application except "Mother's Name and Cash or Check"! They could be legit but I cannot confirm at this time. Their listed phone number is 916-573-5526.
